Warning! IRCTC Doesn’t Want Commuters To Order Food From These Apps

Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) took to Twitter to inform their commuters about their soon to be launched mobile app for their customers. These apps will help the commuters to order their food online from their official website and also through their app.

As informed on the tweet, IRCTC will be making the ‘Menu on Rail’ app available for four train categories, which are Mail, Express, Humsafar trains in the first category, Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express and Duronto Express trains that fall in the second category, Gatimaan Express train in the third category, and Tejas Express train falls in the fourth category.

Other than informing the users of the launch of their new app, the corporation also warned users of several scam food-ordering apps with their official names in the playstore. The apps include names like Travelkhana, Railyatri, Omitra, Yatrachef.

Other unauthorized food suppliers that IRCTC warned about are namely, Railyatri, Khanagadi, Khanaonline, Travelzaika, Trainfood, Travelfood, Travelerfood, Food in train, Food on wheel, Railrasoi and erail.

IRCTC also informed users that if they want to order food, they should do so with the help of the official IRCTC food-ordering app that is called ‘Food on Track’, which is available to be downloaded on both Android as well as IOS phones.

Follow these steps to book your preferred meal on IRCTC website e-catering.irctc.co.in:
To book the food from the site user need to have a valid reservation ticket. After which you need to visit the site and there you have to enter your PNR number. A list of stations shall appear in the menu.

You can also particularly search for your station name. Once you will select your station, the vendor menu will then be opened along with item prices. From here passenger himself can select the vendor and then select the meals to be booked. You now can order your meal.

The final process includes users selecting the mode of payment i.e. cash on delivery or prepaid, only after the completion of this step the confirmation of booking is to be made.

Steps to book IRCTC meals through phone:

To book your meals without the use of internet or with your smartphone, just dial 1323. Passengers may book meals by calling number for wait-listed as well as a confirmed ticket.

Steps to book IRCTC meals through SMS:

Just SMS MEAL <PNR> to 139. Once the SMS is sent, the call centre executive shall call the customer for taking the order. Notification will be provided to the customer through SMS or through the mail.
