Everyone who has not been living under the rock is very much familiar with the Musical.ly app, which now has renamed into TikTok app. According to recent estimates, the app is said to have over 500 million global monthly users in July 2018 alone.

In the year 2016, Facebook created a research team whose only job is to look into Musical.ly’s popularity and how is it doing in the market, but the project then was put into hold since they did not really notice any changes in the popularity of the app.

Since Facebook always keeps looking for the ways to attract as many users as they can, taking a look at TikTok’s growing popularity the social media giant decided to create Lasso, which a few months ago was being built by members of Facebook’s video and Watch team, and they left the success of the project to the teens to decide.

And a day ago Facebook made an announcement of several music-related features for its billion-plus users. Facebook is announcing support for Music on Facebook Stories, expanding Lip Sync Live to all users, and the ability to add songs to your Profile.

If you are a Facebook user, now you too can now add a song, photos as well as videos you share on Facebook Stories. Now the question is how to use this feature, which is pretty easy, all you have to do is take a photo or video from the Facebook Camera or grab one from your camera roll, then tap on the sticker icon and select the music sticker.

After following this step, now you can select the song you want to add and pick the part to share and add the sticker with the artist and song name. Adding a song to a photo or video on Facebook works, in the same way, the feature functions on Instagram.

Users can also move the sticker around and add other stickers and effects to customise their story. The Lip Sync Live feature is now available to more profiles in many countries around the world. Facebook is also expanding up the feature to more artists and creators by expanding to Pages, giving them more ways to connect with their fans.

Facebook is also adding lyrics to Lip Sync Live. Lyrics feature rolled out yesterday and are available for songs including Dua Lipa’s “New Rules,” Khalid’s “Better,” and “Girls Like You” by Maroon 5.

In the coming weeks, Facebook will be adding the ability to add songs to a new music section on your profile. You can also pin a song to the top of your profile. Your Facebook friend can play the songs you have put on your profile.
