The users of Reliance Jio Phone will now be able to access WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube on their phones as Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries Ltd has recently launched Jio Phone 2 at an introductory price of Rs 2,999. Mukesh Ambani announced another good news for the customers that under the new Reliance Jio offer, one can exchange their old feature phone for a new Jio Phone by paying just Rs 501.
Mukesh Ambani stated that the new Reliance Jio offer that will start on 15th August, will allow the common Indians to purchase the Jio Phone 2 at an introductory price of only Rs 2,999. One can exchange their old feature phone against a brand new Jio Phone for an entry price of just Rs 501 in place of Rs 1,500 under the Jio Phone’s ‘Monsoon Hungama’ offer.
The recently launched Reliance Jio Phone 2 is an upgraded version of the popular Jio Phone which has a QWERTY keypad, Jio Phone 2 also supports dual SIM cards, VoLTE and the phone runs on KaiOS operating system. The smartphone has various features and comes with 512MB of RAM and 4GB of ROM. Although, Jio Phone 2 has a basic 2 MP rear camera but has a VGA front-facing camera for selfies. The Jio Phone owners will have the access to all the three popular applications that are YouTube, WhatsApp, and Facebook.
The Reliance Jio Company is planning to attract the 100 million Jio Phone users in a very short period of time. The biggest disadvantage the Jio Phone had was its inability to access popular applications like WhatsApp, Facebook, and YouTube. But after the launch of Jio Phone 2 that has all the capabilities and functionalities and the important point to note is that the phone offers 4G connectivity to the customers.
As stated by Mukesh Ambani, there are still 500 million Indians who use feature phones which doesn’t have any internet capabilities. Because of the problem of affordability, the doors of digital life remained closed for them. The Reliance Company already has around 25 million Jio Phone users. The telecom venture of Reliance Company has an aggressive tariff positioning in the market is backed by Rs 2,50,000 crore investments in digital infrastructure.
Within 22 months of launch, the company has gathered over 215 million mobile subscribers. The capacity utilization of the Jio network is still less than 20 percent even though they are serving the needs of around 215 million customers. Because of which, customer base can be multiplied without any additional investment. The Reliance Company is planning to achieve the target of 99% population coverage with 4G-LTE. This expansion of Reliance Jio will ensure its presence in every district, taluk, gram panchayat and village of India.
