Jio has always been the hot topic because of the affordable pricing for the services it offers and with this pace, Jio reportedly is venturing into various other fields other than constricting itself into being just a network service provider.

There have been several speculations that Reliance Jio will debut its DTH services all over the country, however, there has been no announcement about it yet. Due to this, some scamsters have been taking the advantage to lure a large number of people into frauds.

There is a whole new scam about Jio Phone and Jio DTH that is reportedly circulating on social media, which is causing the victims to fall for it and give away their bank and card details to complete strangers.

People have been receiving a scam SMS that carries a text reading “JIO PHONE & DTH Rs. 10 only for lifetime free channels register now offer for 1st 1000 customers avail this offer http://jiodevices.online/ Book now”.

And when the reader click on the embedded link in the SMS, they invite the trouble right away. In fact, the website that opens by clicking on the link given in the SMS is not https secured.

Upon clicking the link, a webpage opens with URL that looks quite original when compared to the original Jio site. The banner on top of the page displays Rs 10 as the amount to be transacted.

The moment you click the Book button, you’ll be directly landed to the payments page and there you will find two options for making the payment – debit card and credit card.

The ensuing web pages on both the options ask you to enter your card details including card number, expiry date, and CVV code. Moreover, you are even asked about your card pin, date of birth, and card holder’s name, which seems suspicious.

If you are one of those who has already given all your card sensitive details, then you should be aware that now those details are now available for malicious activities.

The Jio Phone being talked about in the SMS is available with a certain procedure and an initial payment of at least Rs 500 of the total Rs 1,500 amount, which is refundable if you meet Jio’s conditions.

All the websites that embed any payment interface are mandated to bear at least 128-bit encryption with https security. If you somehow receive an SMS showing any suspicious transaction, you may as well get your card blocked right away.
