Here’s How To Link Aadhaar With PAN Easily Before June 30
Every PAN cardholder has to link Aadhaar card while filing income tax return (ITR) this year and June 30, 2018, is the last date to link both of them. Earlier, the deadline to link both Aadhaar card and PAN was March 3, 2018, which was extended to June 30, 2018, According to the statistics recorded till March 5, the number of Aadhaar cards linked with Permanent Account Number (PAN) was 16. 65 crores but still a large number of Aadhaar cards haven’t been linked until now.
Before understanding the steps to link both the cards, one needs to understand the significance of both Aadhaar card and PAN. The Permanent Account Number (PAN) acts like an identification card individuals, families, and corporates and for those who Income Tax. The corporates include both Indian and Foreign as well.
Permanent Account Number (PAN) is a unique, 10-character alpha-numeric identifier which is issued under the Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The Income Tax PAN code and its linked card are issued under Section 139A of the Income Tax Act. It serves as an important proof of identification and is issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under the supervision of the Central Board for Direct Taxes (CBDT).
Aadhaar card is a 12-digit unique identification number that can be acquired only by the citizens of India and this card is based on the biometric and demographic data of a person. The date related to the Aadhaar card is collected by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) which is a statutory authority that was established in January 2009 by the Government of India and it was established under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
Earlier the deadline was March 31 but it was extended after the direction of Supreme Court that the linking of Aadhaar card with financial services should be postponed until the final verdict came. Many Government agencies like income tax department, passport, and property registration ask for Aadhaar number for verification purposes.
Those who want to link their PAN card to Aadhaar Card need to follow few steps. Firstly, the person has to log in to the official website of the Income Tax Department incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in. After registration, one needs to go to the Profile Setting on the dashboard’s menu bar and have to click on the “Link Aadhaar” option.
According to the details submitted at the time of registration, details such as name, date of birth and gender will be present. One needs to enter the Aadhaar card number and need to enter the captcha code. Click on the option “Link now” and at the end, a pop-up message will appear to inform that both Aadhaar and PAN card has been successfully linked.
