Here’s How You Can Transfer Your Confirmed Railway Ticket To Another
If you ever book a train ticket, Indian railways have a procedure where you can transfer your ticket to another passenger in case they are not able to travel. However, this facility is available in some specific situations and at least 24 hours before the scheduled departure of the train. According to Indian Railways’ official website, there are total five situations under which the transfer of a confirmed train ticket is allowed. Take a look at the following.
-A person can transfer the confirmed ticket to another family member that is to father, mother, sibling, children or spouse. For transfer, an application needs to be submitted at least 24 hours in advance of the scheduled departure of the train.
-If the passenger is a government servant, travelling on duty, he can make a request in writing 24 hours before the departure of the train.
– If the passengers are students of a recognized educational institution and the head of the institution makes a request in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, then the reservation made in the name of any student can be transferred to any other student of the same institute.
-If the passengers are members of a marriage party and any person deemed to be head of such party makes a request in writing 48 hours before the scheduled departure of the train then the reservation made in the name of any member of the marriage party can be transferred to any other person.
-If the passenger is part of a group of cadets of National Cadet Corps and any officer who is the head of the group, makes a request in writing at least 24 hours before the departure of the train that the reservation made in the name of any cadet be transferred to any other cadet.
Procedure for the train ticket transfer
Transfer of train ticket is possible for tickets booked both online and offline. The person who wants to transfer the ticket must approach the station manager and submit the application. He also needs to submit the photostat copy of the proof of his relationship with the person to whom the ticket would be transferred. The proof could be anything from ration card, voter I-Card, bank passbook etc.
