Google is scheduled to announce the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL next month and ahead of this, its existing flagship, the Pixel 2 XL has received a massive price cut in India. While this has not been announced by Google, it has been confirmed by a Mumbai-based retailer.

A few weeks before the official launch for the Pixel 3 series, the Google Pixel 2 XL has received a price cut in India. Mumbai-based electronics retailer Mahesh Telecom made the announcement on Twitter, revealing the new price for the smartphone.
As per a by Mahesh Telecom, the Pixel 2 XL 64GB is now available for Rs. 45,499, which is almost a 40% drop from its official launch price of Rs. 73,000. The Pixel 2 XL was announced in November last year along with the Pixel 2. Google is expected to announce the price before it launches the new generation of Pixel devices on October 9.

The high-end variant, which comes with 128GB internal storage, still bears the price tag of Rs. 82,000 and has not yet received a price cut. However, we expect that this model too will soon receive a price cut, ahead of Pixel 3-series launch. We are also expecting a price cut for the Pixel 2 models soon.

To remind you of the specifications, the Pixel 2 XL features a 6-inch QHD+ P-OLED display having 2880 x 1440 pixels screen resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 64GB/128GB of onboard storage.

The phone flaunts a single rear camera with a 12.2-megapixel sensor, having f/1.8 aperture and OIS/EIS. On the front side, there’s an 8-megapixel selfie camera with a f/2.4 aperture. Running on Android Oreo operating system out-of-the-box, the phone is backed by a 3,520mAh battery.

Just a few weeks before the announcement, an official teaser from Google in Japan revealed the color scheme for the upcoming smartphones – Mint, White and Black. Based on the images, it seems like the new Pixel 3 XL will have a design similar to the Pixel 2 XL, apart from the fact that it adopts a notch, seen on the iPhone X.

If you are looking for a camera-centric device below Rs. 50,000, the Pixel 2 XL is the device to go for. The recently launched iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max also failed to beat Google’s flagship device in the camera department and only the Huawei P20 Pro has been able to match Pixel 2 XL’s camera performance. As the P20 Pro is priced at Rs. 64,999, the Pixel 2 XL is the device to go for if you want a camera centric phone.
