Airtel Revises Rs 199 Prepaid Plan; Here’s What It Has To Offer Now
Telecom companies are constantly revising their prepaid plans, and also bringing new ones to offer better benefits and compete with the rivals. Recently, Vodafone too introduced a new Rs 169 prepaid plan, not just that but the telco also revised the Rs 199 and Rs 399 plans.
Competing with that plan, now Airtel too has revised its Rs 199 plan. Bharti Airtel has made a change to its open market prepaid recharge of Rs 199 after a long time. The plan is now available across all 22 circles of the country. The plan comes with a validity of 28 days and offers unlimited local and STD calling without any FUP, and 100SMS daily.
Earlier, the plan used to offer 1.4GB data and now with the revised plan, the subscribers will get 1.5GB daily 2G / 3G / 4G data, allowing them to download up to 42GB through the validity period. In comparison, the Rs 199 prepaid plan from Vodafone also offers 1.5GB daily 2G / 3G / 4G data, allowing users to download up to 42GB data through the validity of 28 days. The plan also includes unlimited local and national calling, unlimited SMS and unlimited roaming.
However, unlike Airtel Vodafone puts a FUP on outgoing calls. Daily calls by Vodafone subscribers are restricted to 250 minutes, whereas weekly calls are capped at 1,000 minutes. After the FUP limit is hit, users will either be charged 1.2 paise per second, or Re 1 per minute, depending on the segmentation.
In January, Airtel had revised the Rs 199, Rs 448, and Rs 509 prepaid recharge to increase the bundled data from 1GB per day to 1.4GB each day. The motive was to take on the low-cost Jio recharges that gained instant popularity thanks to the data, calling, and content benefits. However, the Rs 448 and Rs 509 Airtel recharges are yet to be revised, so we will have to wait for that to happen.
