WhatsApp May Soon Get Dark-Mode Feature; Read All About It
The past couple of months we have seen rumours about a bunch of features coming to popular messaging app WhatsApp. Now, WhatsApp may come with a dark mode soon.
Also, it will be great for when you use the app during night time as it should put less strain on your eyes while you are chatting on WhatsApp.Facebook Messenger has already started testing the dark mode for the app in some countries. Samsung has also rolled out One UI based on Android 9 Pie, which comes with a Night Mode too.
WABetaInfo revealed the concept image of the Dark Mode feature. This feature turns the light-themed background of the app dark. The concept image shows the app with a background completely dark while the chat, contact names and icons are white.
This feature is expected to arrive for iOS and Android users both. According to Google, the dark mode feature consumes about 43% lesser power at full brightness than the default white theme. Recent leaks suggest that the Google Assistant is also going to get a dark theme soon. Recently an alleged early build of Android Q was seen with a system-wide dark mode. Other popular social media platforms such as Twitter, YouTube and Google Maps offer dark mode.
Meanwhile, WhatsApp has now also started rolling out the group calls feature in its Android app. WABetaInfo tweeted that the rollout for the group calls feature has started with WhatsApp version Android beta 2.18.370. As far as the group calls feature is concerned, it is supposed to make calling multiple friends through WhatsApp easier.
“Before it was more complicated to start a group call. It was necessary to start a normal call first, then you could add other contacts in the call,” WABetaInfo had earlier noted on its website. Now there will be a dedicated button to quickly start the group calls.
